HOLLINGROVE NEWS April 2014

The breeding season is now successfully completed with 4 very nice foals on the ground and 5 frozen semen pregnancies with the following exciting combinations:- SPS Bella Carmina (imp) to Damsey, EM Lady de Luxe (imp) to Swarovski, Hollingrove Contiki to Sir Donnerhall, Amaris (imp) to Furstenball and Dream of Romance ET to DeNiro.

The last couple of months have been immensely busy with the annual Hanoverian Tour and the AWHA Gala Day and National Tour taking up a plenty of our time but with great results! Champion Foal at the Gala Show and Highest scoring AWHA Horse of the day to Hollingrove Dami who also won the AWHA Award for the highest aggregate score for the show and tour combined and has been awarded Highly Commended Foal for the HHSA Tour. HG Steinbeck also starred on the AWHA Tour gaining 2nd place nationally in the colt foal section and equal highest percentage foal with Dami on 88.25% for Victoria. HG Delight was awarded 2nd place nationally in the yearling filly class and has since been sold to well known and successful dressage rider and breeder Jacinta Abernathy. HG Saffron (Sir Donnerhall/HG Fallon) owned by Nicole Vanatta and Charlie Pragnell in partnership with Hollingrove Stud impressed both judges Lynne Crowden and Joanne Verikos immensely with her international quality paces, presence and type to be awarded 2nd place nationally with 87.678%. Saffi has recently been started under saddle and is more than fulfilling expectations of becoming a top dressage horse for the future.

It was great to see HG Dazzler- 3 years ago Champion Foal on the Hanoverian Tour, out with his owner Rebecca William-O’Brien at the AWHA Gala Show strutting his stuff and winning Reserve Champion Senior Warmblood.

Imported Hanoverian fillies Dream of Romance and Amaris recently completed their mare performance testing, both acquitting themselves extremely well , particularly the pregnant Amaris who jumped so well that, if in Germany, she would have been invited into the jumper programme despite being dressage bred! Her in hand trot was also a highlight that she received a 9 for. Dream of Romance has had a couple of dressage competition starts and impressed everybody with her great beauty, ground covering cadenced paces and calm nature, however, we decided that, as not yet 4 years of age, that DWTS was too big an ask and that it would be better to aim for the 5YO class next year when she would have more experience and maturity to compete against horses 6 months older than herself. We are delighted to hear from happy clients that their young Hollingrove horses, recently started under saddle, are, almost without exception, proving to be everything they had wished for and more, and look forward to following their competition careers.

June 2013 - Our first exciting piece of news is that we have purchased another Hanoverian filly in Germany – a very good moving bay filly by Destano from a States Premium Sandro Hit/ Rubenstein mare bred by our good friend and well respected Hanoverian breeder Bernhard Menke. Plans, at this stage, are for her to remain in Germany for competition and to complete her mare performance test prior to importing her, in foal to Australia to join our broodmare band.

Elite Hanoverian Foal Auction purchases Dior and Ami, now rising 3yos, have recently been started under saddle. Both are showing amazing talent at this early stage of their training and plans are underway for, at least Dior, who looks a serious DWTS prospect with her great quality, presence, size, amazing movement already with suspension and balance. Her calm willing temperament should make it easy for her to be prepared with next year’s 4 yo class in mind.

Delighted owners of the young colts HG Dazzler and HG Shogun have forwarded recent photos showing what lovely boys they have grown into. It is always nice when happy clients share with us the development of these precious babies!

Another successful Hanoverian Foal Assessment Tour has just been completed at our property with all foals presenting beautifully with favourable comments to be heard about each of them. We were flattered that The Horse Magazine  chose our stud to  attend the day and look forward to the photos and report of the day in the next issue.
