December 2013 - On our recent trip to Germany and Holland , as well as paying a visit to see our delightful Destano/Sandro Hit filly- growing out beautifully and with the sweetest nature, we managed to cram in lots of fabulous horse events –Hewart von der Decken Hanoverian Mare Show and World Young Dressage and Showjumping Horse Championships at Verden where we saw some amazing horses and caught up with lots of our German and Australian friends. We then travelled back to Holland for the Pavo Cup in Ermelo – the Dutch equivalent of the Bundeschampionat. We thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful hospitality of the delightful Emmy de Jeu and had great fun with her other houseguests- the 2 zany Aussies Robyn Todd and Wendy McAuliffe and the lovely English lady, breeder and rider Emma Jane Blundell , owner of the Mount St John Stud in Yorkshire. It was great to see many of Emmy’s lovely mares and foals, including meeting the famous Sister de Jeu, and cheering on Emmy’s 2 young mares competing in the Pavo Cup. Always a highlight of any trip overseas is to make new friends with other horse enthusiasts and to share stories and information, discuss philosophies, successes and failures of warmblood breeding and training around the world. We look forward to paying a visit to our new English friend Emma’s renowned stud, one of the largest in England- although young, Emma is a wealth of knowledge and her paddocks are filled with highly credentialed mares breeding some amazing youngsters.
We were also fortunate to send time with our special German breeder friends Bernhard Menke and his family, Josef Wilmes and his family, also Kurt and Ingrid Struck, breeders of our mare Santa Fe got to meet up again with SPS Dixie her lovely mother enjoying summer out on the fields. (see photo )
Young Hollingrove dressage horses are now starting to make their presence felt on the dressage scene. Already successfully competing are rising 5yos. HG DeeDee (Dancier/HG Contiki) and Ria Grivell won both classes and the Preliminary Championship with 70%+ scores at only her second competition in SA recently. HG Highwayman (His Highness/HG Fantine) and Lizzy Wilson-Fellows was Reserve Preliminary Champion at his first official competition. HG Fangio (Falsterbo/HG Fantine) and his owner Cathy Cupit had a successful trip to Melbourne from NSW to win both Medium tests with great scores at the recent Masters Games. HG Sorrento (Sir Donnerhall/SPS Bella Carmina imp.), unbeaten led as a colt, is now enjoying similar success under saddle with his new owner Andrew Buckley, combining a dressage and show hunter career. HG Royalty (Rotspon/HG Chandon) with rider Ally O’Neill are receiving rave reports from their trainers and looking serious international future prospects. Reports are very encouraging from other owners of their babies now starting under saddle- HG Roxanna (Royal Hit/HG Fallon) and Corinne Winch, HG Dazzler (Dancier/Santa Fe imp.) and Rebecca Williams O’Brien, HG Furstin Lulu (Furst Love/HG Contiki) and Bec Woff, HG Flashdance (Fidertanz/HG Dreamtime) rider Andrew Buckley, owner Kristy Birse and, of course, our own HG Rihanna (Royal Hit/Santa Fe imp.).
HG Salzburg imp. (St Moritz/SPS Bella Carmina imp.) owned by Anna Thompson of Primrose Court Stud WA recently passed his AWHA Stallion Approval with flying colours and already has some lovely foals on the ground.
Hollingrove and Murray Sproull’s Escudo 1 mare HG Eve continues to impress and jumped some great clear rounds at the recent Australian Showjumping Championships to finish 10th in the final round from over 135 starters in Ruby class.
The breeding season is upon us again and we look forward to the arrivals of our Sterntanzer, Rosario and Don Dancier foals soon. Our first foal has arrived, a black filly by Dancier from SPS Bella Carmina (imp) and is already looking sensational. Mares will be bred to sires Benicio, DeNiro, Furstenball, Damsey, Rock Forever, Swarovski and Sir Donnerhall.

June 2013 - Our first exciting piece of news is that we have purchased another Hanoverian filly in Germany – a very good moving bay filly by Destano from a States Premium Sandro Hit/ Rubenstein mare bred by our good friend and well respected Hanoverian breeder Bernhard Menke. Plans, at this stage, are for her to remain in Germany for competition and to complete her mare performance test prior to importing her, in foal to Australia to join our broodmare band.
Elite Hanoverian Foal Auction purchases Dior and Ami, now rising 3yos, have recently been started under saddle. Both are showing amazing talent at this early stage of their training and plans are underway for, at least Dior, who looks a serious DWTS prospect with her great quality, presence, size, amazing movement already with suspension and balance. Her calm willing temperament should make it easy for her to be prepared with next year’s 4 yo class in mind.
Delighted owners of the young colts Hollingrove Dazzler and Hollingrove Shogun have forwarded recent photos showing what lovely boys they have grown into. It is always nice when happy clients share with us the development of these precious babies!
Another successful Hanoverian Foal Assessment Tour has just been completed at our property with all foals presenting beautifully with favourable comments to be heard about each of them. Hollingrove Dante was chosen in the Top Ten Hanoverian Foals and Hollingrove Don Quixote was a Highly Commended Foal also.
We were flattered that The Horse Magazine chose our stud to attend the day and look forward to the photos and report of the day in the next issue.
HG Divinity scored equal top filly with 84.28% on the AWHA/Trakenher National Tour recently. Hollingrove Don Quixote was the top scoring colt on 83.57% ,with all four Hollingrove foals scoring over 80%.
